Every year during the Christmas season, stores are full of advent calendars. However, many people find it rewarding to make their own instead. Why buy one to count down to the days leading up to Christmas when you can create one that has personal meaning?
For the Christmas season, the wine advent calendar can't be beaten. Enhance your holiday festivities and keep your creative juices flowing at the same time. You can personalize an advent calendar in any way, making it a unique and meaningful gift for a loved one. Some of the materials you will need to make your own wine calendar include the required number of mini bottles of wine. You may choose to do a full or partial calendar. A full calendar calls for 24 small bottles, but a partial calendar cuts that number in half. In that case, you may opt for full-sized bottles of wine instead. You will also need to obtain a large wine box and some Christmas paper to wrap it in. For an extra festive touch, consider adding a gift bow. To add your wine bottles, put each one in the box and cut a circle that matches the size of the bottle.
Here is where the fun part comes in. The choice of what to add to your calendar to make it more festive is yours alone to make. One popular choice is chocolates. You will need one piece to attach to each bottle of wine you are including. Space between bottles should be stuffed with crinkled tissue paper. When you are finished adding the paper you may add more chocolates in between, to provide more padding. Ideally, you will want 24 different chocolates if you are doing a full calendar, and 12 different chocolates if you are doing a partial calendar.
