Wine fact: Sangiovese

Wine Fact:
Sangiovese grapes are grown all over the world, but only seem to reach excellence in Italy!

It’s a grape that is commonly associated to Italy, and more specifically Tuscany – the Sangiovese grape. It produces some of the most renowned wines of Italy such as Chianti Classico, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano and Brunello di Montalcino, so why haven’t others jumped onto the Sangiovese bandwagon? Well, they have. Places like South America, Australia and USA have tried to mimic the excellence found in Tuscan Sangiovese based wines, but it seems that the grape wants to stay put in its motherland! Most wines experimenting with this grape outside of Italy find it difficult to reach the success that this grape is capable of reaching in Italy. Home Sweet Home is where it works best. Thanks goodness for Italian exports!
